About WhyThisTool
A curated directory that focuses on one question: why should you actually use this tool?
The Problem
There are thousands of tools out there. Most directories just list features and pricing. But features don't tell you whether a tool is actually worth your time.
We skip the spec sheets and focus on the one question that matters: Why should you use this tool instead of ignoring it?
How It Works
- Anyone can submit a tool with a clear explanation of why it matters
- Submissions are reviewed via GitHub pull requests for quality control
- Approved tools are published with practical reasons and tradeoffs
- You browse, search, and filter by use case and category
The Editorial Workflow
We use GitHub pull requests as our editorial process. This ensures every submission is reviewed before publication, community members can suggest improvements, and there is a clear audit trail of all changes.
Submit a Tool
Submissions are reviewed through a private GitHub workflow. Submitter details stay out of the published content and only appear in the review request.
